A Triathlon consists on swimming, biking and
running all in one race. Races are typically
divided in age groups. Typical distances for
races in the Triad Youth Triathlon Series are:
Age 6 and Under
No swim (or 50 meters)
Bike 1-3 miles
Run .25-.75 miles
Ages 7-10
Swim 100 meters
Bike 3-5 miles
Run .5-1 miles
Ages 11-15
Swim 200 meter
Bike 5-7 miles
Run 1-2 miles
The goals of the Triad Youth Triathlon (TYT)
Series are:
- Broadly promote the sport of triathlon to
youth in the Triad and the surrounding
communities
- To create and foster a series of races
that encourages participating from all
abilities and recognizes athletic achievement
- Help race directors promote and manage
youth triathlons in a cost effective and safe
manner
- Solicit strong community and corporate
sponsors to help promote the TYT Series and
the sport of triathlon
